Newkirk’s Notes – comments on Las Vegas from AccessVegas.Com publisher Ted Newkirk:
Hello From Las Vegas! – I continue to be on other assignments and will return my regular sections to this newsletter at the end of the summer (sooner perhaps if all goes well).
In the meantime, I do invite you to read the following blog posts I’ve made over the past few weeks (and don’t be shy about leaving your comments):
- Should You Try To Use Coupons When In Las Vegas?
- Are You Over 35? Head Downtown Las Vegas To Fremont Street
- Hoover Dam Or Boulder Dam? A History Question
Binion’s Friday Night Pool Events – This is something we told you about at the beginning of summer. Friday nights starting at 9 PM, Binion’s opens up their rooftop pool area to the public (free admission). You can go up and enjoy the view, imbibe in their drink specials (they have a full bar, just ask), and lounge around checking out the amazing views of Las Vegas. (Click on the photo for larger picture).
This is a best kept secret (IE, hardly anyone knows about it so you have all the elbow room in the world). To get up there, find the hotel room elevators and go to the PD (Pool Deck) level. We’re definitely going to hit this a couple more times before summer ends! Full details at Kiss The Sky Summer Pool Parties Coming To BinionÆs Gambling Hall

The afternoon show, perfect for an adult respite from the usual Las Vegas Strip activities, as well as pleasing for the 18 and under crowd, features CivillicoÆs impressive juggling prowess. Add to that, his unique brand of energetic comedy and things are bound to get a little crazy for a 2:00pm show û good crazy that is.

Jabbawockeez by D.W. Grant
Jabbawockeez, MUS.I.C – Fun in a Figment – Banners on stage tout ôJabbawockeez. MUS.I.Cö as ôa figment of your imagination.ö This exciting song and dance showcase drags you into a figment, includes you in the madness, and then leaves you standing and cheering at the end of an amazing evening.
Louie Anderson by Terri D’Richards
Louie Anderson: Big Baby Boomer – Welcome to Louie-ville! û where down home mid-western comedy is served up in generous helpings by veteran comic Louie Anderson. A decidedly improvisational twist in AndersonÆs set lends an air of edgy unpredictability. Yet for all that, the comedian always remains firmly grounded in his roots: Minnesota, growing up in a big family (11 children!) with less than perfect parents and, his struggles with food.
The 100-seat venue provides an appropriately intimate setting for LouieÆs low-key, interactive format. Drink prices come in at under Strip price average, and the service is efficient.

Marc Savard Comedy Hypnosis – Pushing The Edge – The Vegas Strip offers a handful of comedy hypnosis shows, and for the most part, they all follow the same script: pull willing participants from the audience, hypnotize them into a highly suggestive state, and make them do embarrassing things û often of a sexual nature. Marc SavardÆs show at the V Theatre is one of the better-quality hypnosis shows in Vegas û the theater and special effects are of a higher caliber than most, and Savard himself has a friendly, wholesome appeal that makes the show fun… without being too seedy.
