Some Las Vegans Surprised By Monday Morning Snow - After Sunday's steady rain in Las Vegas, some residents were surprised when they woke up to a blanket of white on the ground Monday morning. Parts of the Las Vegas Valley picked up about a half-inch of rain Sunday, while higher elevations, like the Spring Mountains, picked up nearly a foot of snow. By early Monday morning, snow levels dropped to nearly 2,500 feet, allowing big flakes of wet snow to reach the ground in outskirts of Las Vegas, including Summerlin, Anthem and Centennial Hills.
Dark For Tark: Las Vegas Dims Lights For UNLV Legend - It began as an idea tossed around social media to honor late UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian. Look back at the life of legendary UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian, and see how Las Vegans are remembering him. Man Rescued From Downtown SlotZilla Zip Line – Las Vegas Rescue and Fire Department has rescued a man that was stuck on SlotZilla, the zip line that goes down the middle of the Fremont Street Experience. The call came in around 2:45 p.m. that a man was stuck. Around 3:10 p.m., the fire department tweeted it had rescued the man. He was not hurt in the incident.

Lawmakers Consider Raising Highway Speed Limit To 85 Mph – Nevadans may soon really be putting the pedal to the metal. Lawmakers are considering raising the maximum speed limit in Nevada from 75 to 85 mph. It’s one of the bills under consideration when the legislature convenes in February.

Crews Clean Las Vegas Strip, Fremont Street Directly After NYE Parties – The Las Vegas Strip and Fremont Street are looking good as new following the New Year’s Eve celebrations. Shortly after midnight, public works and NDOT crews began removing tons of trash to get the areas cleaned up before they reopened to traffic. Las Vegas police reported good news following the big party that attracted nearly 400,000 people. Officers made 19 arrests on the Las Vegas Strip and 3 in downtown Las Vegas.
