• Man Rescued From Downtown SlotZilla Zip Line – Las Vegas Rescue and Fire Department has rescued a man that was stuck on SlotZilla, the zip line that goes down the middle of the Fremont Street Experience. The call came in around 2:45 p.m. that a man was stuck. Around 3:10 p.m., the fire department tweeted it had rescued the man. He was not hurt in the incident.

• 1985 Desert Inn, Las Vegas Commercial – Many of you still remember the Desert Inn, aka The Deserted Inn during the end of its life. Here’s a short, fun commercial highlighting their golf course and resort amenities from 30 years ago!

• Lawmakers Consider Raising Highway Speed Limit To 85 Mph – Nevadans may soon really be putting the pedal to the metal. Lawmakers are considering raising the maximum speed limit in Nevada from 75 to 85 mph. It’s one of the bills under consideration when the legislature convenes in February.

• 2014/15 New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show In Las Vegas – America’s Party 2015, the citywide New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas, was bigger and better than ever. Fireworks were launched from seven Las Vegas Strip locations: MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, Treasure Island, The Venetian and Stratosphere.

• Crews Clean Las Vegas Strip, Fremont Street Directly After NYE Parties – The Las Vegas Strip and Fremont Street are looking good as new following the New Year’s Eve celebrations. Shortly after midnight, public works and NDOT crews began removing tons of trash to get the areas cleaned up before they reopened to traffic. Las Vegas police reported good news following the big party that attracted nearly 400,000 people. Officers made 19 arrests on the Las Vegas Strip and 3 in downtown Las Vegas.

• Local Businesses Rake In The Cash Over New Year’s Eve – Another big New Year’s Eve is on the books for Las Vegas. Now, area businesses are starting to tally up their share of the millions spent by hundreds of thousands of tourists. For local business owners, New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest days of the year. It marks the end of the slow period following Thanksgiving and the first big surge in tourism before the Super Bowl.
