Equal billing doesn't always mean equal on stage. Dana Carvey seems as relaxed doing stand-up as Garth in Wayne's basement, with his great character voices from the Church Lady to Donald Trump. Jon Lovitz has only one: an amplified "wise guy" persona we know him for, but not the authentic stand-up voice he is trying to create.
Quality drunk munchies are now just a few staggering steps away from Atomic Liquors' back patio. The Kitchen at Atomic, the long-awaited restaurant companion to the bar next door, opened on April 6, offering inventive entrées and a casual atmosphere.
Technically, artist Ugo Rondinone's "Seven Magic Mountains" doesn't celebrate its first anniversary until May 7. But "it's always a celebration" at the towering, neon-hued land art project south of Las Vegas, according to Casey Fremont, executive director of the Art Production Fund, which produced "Seven Magic Mountains" with Reno's Nevada Museum of Art. "From day one, it has exceeded our expectations."
It has been a lucky start of May at Caesars Entertainment Las Vegas Resorts, with three $100,000 or more jackpots hit within two days. The lucky streak started at Paris Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 3 with a $500,000 jackpot hit after only five minutes of play at a machine. Thursday, May 4 resulted in two more big slot machine wins with a $200,000 Harrah's Las Vegas jackpot and a Caesars Palace jackpot of $100,000.
I had been wanting to stay at Mirage since my Vegas obsession started. Mirage was the catalyst and now, to me, representation of the Vegas I fell in love with. My wife and I had three nights booked. I was fortunate enough to snag a two-night comp reward through MyVegas and we purchased a third night later. Checking in was a breeze and they had no problem connecting our room resets actions to ensure we didn't have to check out and back in on our separate reservations.
Maybe it just comes with having to live in a desert, but we Southern Nevadans know how to summer in style. Let the rest of the country whine about high temps and humidity. We celebrate incredible sunsets, sweeping vistas and swimming pools everywhere we can see, and we survive just fine, thank you
